Our Business

R Cowan Consulting Services LLC was established by Roger Cowan in January, 2012. 

Mission Statement:

To serve as a technical resource for the pharmaceutical industry to provide for the quality contract manufacture of a developmental drug or device product with full adherence to current GMP regulatory requirements.  

Who We Are

Roger Cowan has 32 years of direct experience managing pharmaceutical quality assurance and manufacturing departments at major pharmaceutical companies in Canada and the U.S.   

Roger is a microbiologist at heart, having earned his bachelor's degree in microbiology at the University of Waterloo, Canada in 1979. He worked as a microbiologist and eventually managed the QC laboratory at Harris Laboratories (Canada Packers) in Toronto, Canada.

Roger was employed by Alcon Laboratories, Inc., an international manufacturer of ophthalmic products, for 27 years.       

During his tenure at Alcon Canada, Inc., Roger gained experience as a QA Manager and a Technical Services Manager, responsible for validation activities. 

Roger moved to Texas in 1989 as International Clinical Supplies Manager for Alcon.  Many years were spent at Alcon Research, Ltd. in Fort Worth, Texas as Global Clinical Supplies Director, responsible for the manufacture, labeling and distribution of clinical supplies on a global basis. He had the opportunity to design and coordinate the building, commissioning and validation of a GMP aseptic manufacturing facility for clinical supplies during this time. 

Management of the Clinical Supplies Manufacturing Facility through a fast growth period provided much experience in handling GMP and ISO audits from both domestic and international regulatory agencies.  Extensive audit experience was also gained in the performance of GMP audits of various suppliers and contract manufacturing organizations.
